Zonta International
Zonta International actively works to promote the status of women through its long-standing relationship with the United Nations and some of its agencies. It holds consultative status with the United States of America and maintains 10 United Nations’ representatives, making it a powerful force in the development of international policy.
Service is the cornerstone of Zonta, both internationally and locally. An estimated 500,000 people receive help from Zonta’s new or continuing international and local service projects. Individual Zonta clubs are the basic organization units of Zonta International. Some of Zonta International’s projects include:
Amelia Earhart Fellowship Award
The Zonta International Amelia Earhart Fellowship Award was established in honor of Amelia Earhart, famed pilot and Zontian. A $10,000 award is granted annually.
Jane M. Klausman Business Award
Jane M. Klausman was an entrepreneur and parliamentarian. This scholarship supports women who demonstrate outstanding potential in business related fields. A $8,000 award is made at the international level annually, as is a $2,000 award at the district level.
Young Women in Public Affairs
This award supports pre-university women students, 16 to 19 years of age, who demonstrated outstanding potential in community service and public careers. A $4,000 award is made at the international level annually, as is a $1,000 award at the district level.
